Morrison released What's Wrong with This Picture? for Blue Note back in 2003. He re-signed to legendary jazz label in large part because musician and producer Don Was signed on to head it. Featuring ten new songs, Morrison plays guitar, alto saxophone, and occasional keyboards. Employing his trademark Celtic soul, the album also showcases incursions into jazz and blues -- and sometimes all three within the same tune. Morrison recorded the sessions in Belfast, and produced them. He used his road band augmented by guest musicians. [image=SVroyIQXUn] Morrison chose the tracks for this album himself, mostly drawn from his work during 1984-1991. They were a good example of his more idiosyncratic material. <a href="http://kat.ph/van-morrison-best-of-flac-t6825964.html"><img class="lazyjs" src="//kastatic.com/images/blank.gif" data-original="//kat.ph/torrentwidget/975D3867321FD67D1165B74ED7ED0430126D610F.png" alt="image" /></a>

Van Morrison Days Like This Released : 5 June 1995 Label : Polydor Foremat : Mp3@320 Days Like This continues in the vein of `90s-era Van Morrison albums: covers of slightly obscure nuggets that reflect Morrison's love of classic rhythm and blues, an appreciation for the human condition in the throes of love, and a voice that has ripened with age. Many of the fine musicians who've worked with Van on his past releases reappear with exemplary results. Over half of the tracks are arranged by former James Brown cohort Pee Wee Ellis, whose charts punch up songs like "Perfect Fit" and the title tune. Brian Kennedy's pure falsetto is a gossamer veil that contrasts Morrison's gruff vocals--particularly on "In The Afternoon," Van's wistful ode to late-in-the-day love-making. Daughter Shana Morrison sings back-up on most tracks, and duets with her father on the two covers--Ray Charles' "You Don't Know Me," which gets a smoky reading with Shana playing Linda Ronstadt to Van's Brother Ray, and the countryish "I'll Never Be Free," originally done by Tennessee Ernie Ford and Kay Starr. Days Like This also maintains Morrison's ability to delve into the mysticism of his heritage and turn out reams of lyrical intrigue. The complex imagery of "Ancient Highway" refutes Van's claim that he is a simple tunesmith--made on the self-descriptive "Songwriter." The interior conflict of past wrongs and a shot at redemption is what fuels the twists and turns that "Highway" takes. On it, the Belfast Cowboy invokes Hank Williams, a Biblical parable and a town that skips in and out of reality as part of the metaphysical journey; and follows it up by playing acoustic guitar, harmonica and a soulful Hammond organ throughout this eight minutes-plus opus. Recorded at Windmill Lane Recording, Dublin, Ireland; The Wool Hall and Real World Studios, Bath, England. Tracklist : 1."Perfect Fit" – 4:33 2."Russian Roulette" – 3:56 3."Raincheck" – 5:53 4."You Don't Know Me" - – 4:32 5."No Religion" – 5:14 6."Underlying Depression" – 4:35 7."Songwriter" – 2:50 8."Days Like This" – 3:13 9."I'll Never Be Free" – 3:37 10."Melancholia" – 3:56 11."Ancient Highway" – 8:53 12."In the Afternoon" – 6:21 Personnel Van Morrison - vocal, acoustic guitar, electric guitar, harmonica, alto saxophone, Hammond organ Liam Bradley - drums on "Raincheck" and "You Don't Know Me" Phil Coulter - piano on "Raincheck", "You Don't Know Me" and "I'll Never Be Free" Geoff Dunn - drums, tambourine Noel Eccles - drums on "I'll Never Be Free" Pee Wee Ellis - tenor and alto saxophones Leo Green - tenor saxophone Matthew Holland - trumpet, flugelhorn James Hunter - electric guitar, background vocals on "Meloncholia" and "In the Afternoon" Ronnie Johnson - electric guitar Brian Kennedy - background vocals Teena Lyle - recorder, piano, vibraphone, congas, background vocals Foggy Lyttle - electric guitar on "Raincheck", "You Don't Know Me" and "I'll Never Be Free" Arty McGlynn - acoustic guitar on "Raincheck" James McMillan - trumpet, flugelhorn on "Raincheck", "You Don't Know Me" and "Ancient Highway" Shana Morrison - vocal, background vocals on "Raincheck", "You Don't Know Me", "I'll Never Be Free" and "Meloncholia" Jonn Savannah - Hammond organ on "No Religion" Nicky Scott - bass guitar Kate St. John - alto saxophone, oboe

Almost Independence Day (10:05) Saint Dominic's Preview is an album by Northern Irish singer-songwriter Van Morrison, released in 1972. The diversity of the material on the album highlighted the skill with which Morrison could fuse Celtic folk, R&amp;B, blues, jazz and the singer-songwriter genre. "Jackie Wilson Said (I'm in Heaven When You Smile)" and the title track, top quality blends of Stax soul and folk, became staples of his live set, while lesser known tracks such as "Gypsy" and "Redwood Tree" continued to display a lyrical celebration of nature's beauty. Also on the album were two lengthy, hypnotic tracks, "Listen to the Lion" and the closing "Almost Independence Day" which were given primal, cathartic and intense vocal performances from Morrison. These tracks were more similar to the songs on his critically lauded 1968 song-cycle Astral Weeks. Rolling Stone Magazine declared it "the best-produced, most ambitious Van Morrison record yet released."[1]It ranks at #36 at Rate Your Music's Top Albums of 1972.[2] It was his first album not to have love as its central theme and significantly (as his marriage was deteriorating) the cover shows Morrison looking like a gypsy troubadour out on the street. Van Morrison - Astral Weeks Live At the Hollywood Bowl [MP3 VBR] [2009]

Recorded in 1968 when the Belfast-bred, blues-rock music legend Van Morrison was just 22 years old, Astral Weeks immediately received critical acclaim and continues to be cited as one of the greatest albums of the rock era. Subsequently the album has been ranked on numerous Best Albums of All Time lists, including #19 on Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time and the 40th Greatest Album Ever on VH-1's list in 2003. Both Astral Weeks and Moondance (Morrison's next album) were inducted into the Grammy® Hall of Fame. Astral Weeks became a cult favorite and was seen almost as a religion to many artists. On November 7 and 8, 2008, four decades later, at the age 63, Van Morrison revisited Astral Weeks live in its entirety at the Hollywood Bowl, and delivered a jawdropping, awe-inspiring performance. The first half of the show featured Morrison playing timeless classics that have made him a legend, while the second half was the breathtaking performance of the Astral Weeks album.Van Morrison did not simply re-create what he did 40 years ago in a NY studio, but instead took the songs to a dramatically higher contemporary level. The jazz-rooted compositions of Astral Weeks are poetic stories of young love and the quest to find one's place in life. They were, and remain, ideal source material for musical improvisation that gives way to the sense of wonder for which Morrison has always striven. ". . . transcendence is what Morrison has been after with his music from the beginning, and it's what he achieved frequently on Friday, when he played his watershed 1968 album Astral Weeks live in its entirety for the first time. The wondrous, youthful timbre of his voice then has evolved over the years into a richer, fuller instrument, with every bit of its remarkable elasticity very much intact." (L. A. Van Morrison - Astral Weeks (1968) [24 bit FLAC] vinyl Released: 1968 Duration: 46:05 Genre: Pop/Rock Style: Album Rock, Folk-Rock, Singer/Songwriter Codec: FLAC Bit Rate: ~ 2,800 kbps Bits Per Sample: 24 Sample Rate: 96,000 Hz 01. Astral Weeks 02. Beside You 03. Sweet Thing 04. Cyprus Avenue 05. The Way Young Lovers Do 06. Madame George 07. Ballerina 08. Slim Slow Slider Astral Weeks is generally considered one of the best albums in pop music history. For all that renown, Astral Weeks is anything but an archetypal rock &#38; roll album: in fact, it isn&#39;t a rock &#38; roll album at all. Employing a mixture of folk, blues, jazz, and classical music, Van Morrison spins out a series of extended ruminations on his Belfast upbringing, including the remarkable character &#34;Madame George&#34; and the climactic epiphany experienced on &#34;Cyprus Avenue.&#34; Accompanying himself on acoustic guitar, Morrison sings in his elastic, bluesy voice, accompanied by a jazz rhythm section (Jay Berliner, guitar, Richard Davis, bass, Connie Kay, drums), plus reeds (John Payne) and vibes (Warren Smith, Jr.), with a string quartet overdubbed. An emotional outpouring cast in delicate musical structures, Astral Weeks has a unique musical power. Unlike any record before or since, it nevertheless encompasses the passion and tenderness that have always mixed in the best postwar popular music, easily justifying the critics&#39; raves.

THE FIRST-EVER CAREER-SPANNING SINGLE DISC GREATEST HITS COLLECTION FROM ONE OF THE MOST INFLUENTIAL ARTISTS OF OUR TIME One of the best-selling albums of the Nineties, the five-times-platinum, 1990-issued The Best Of Van Morrison, is out of print. For a new, career-spanning collection from the singer-songwriter ranked in the top half of both Vh1's "100 Greatest Artists Of Rock And Roll" and Rolling Stone's "The Immortals: 100 Greatest Artists Of All Time," only one man could possibly handpick the tracks and oversee their mastering -- Van Morrison himself. That is what the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer has done for Still On Top - The Greatest Hits. Spanning his work from 1964 to 2005 on a handful of different record labels, Still On Top - The Greatest Hits celebrates a singer who has influenced everyone from Bruce Springsteen and The Doors' Jim Morrison to Tom Petty and Elvis Costello. Van the Man has been hailed as one of "popular music's true innovators, a restless seeker whose incantatory vocals and alchemical fusion of R&amp;B, jazz, blues, and Celtic folk produced perhaps the most spiritually transcendent body of work in the rock &amp; roll canon" (All Music Guide). 101-van_morrison-jackie_wilson_said_(im_in_heaven_when_you_smile) 102-van_morrison-dweller_on_the_threshold 103-van_morrison-whenever_god_shines_his_light 104-van_morrison-moondance 105-van_morrison-bright_side_of_the_road 106-van_morrison-brown_eyed_girl 107-van_morrison-wavelength 108-van_morrison-crazy_love 109-van_morrison-someone_like_you 110-van_morrison-when_will_i_ever_learn_to_live_in_god 111-van_morrison-tore_down_a_la_rimbaud 112-van_morrison-wild_night 113-van_morrison-gloria 114-van_morrison-real_real_gone 115-van_morrison-into_the_mystic 116-van_morrison-in_the_garden 117-van_morrison-saint_dominics_preview 118-van_morrison-stranded 201-van_morrison-precious_time 202-van_morrison-domino 203-van_morrison-here_comes_the_night 204-van_morrison-little_village 205-van_morrison-and_it_stoned_me 206-van_morrison-days_like_this 207-van_morrison-have_i_told_you_lately_that_i_love_you 208-van_morrison-cleaning_windows 209-van_morrison-baby_please_dont_go 210-van_morrison-back_on_top 211-van_morrison-vanlose_stairway 212-van_morrison-celtic_new_year 213-van_morrison-irish_heartbeat 214-van_morrison-the_healing_game 215-van_morrison-full_force_gale 216-van_morrison-warm_love 217-van_morrison-did_ye_get_healed 218-van_morrison-tupelo_honey 219-van_morrison-wonderful_remark

The Best of Van Morrison is a compilation album by Northern Irish singer-songwriter Van Morrison, released in 1990. This was his first ever "Best of" album and was one of the best-selling albums of the 90s, spending a year and a half on the UK charts after charting at #4 and at #1 in the Australia Albums Chart. With the combined success of this album and the previous album, Avalon Sunset, Morrison was once again in the pop/rock mainstream after a decade. The songs on the album were pulled from twenty-five years of material. One of the songs, "Wonderful Remark" had previously only been available on the soundtrack of the film, The King of Comedy. Critical reception For an artist who's doggedly album-oriented, plus a songwriter who revels in subtlety, Van Morrison doesn't seem like a logical candidate for a successful greatest-hits compilation. Nevertheless, The Best of Van Morrison is a crackerjack compilation, tracing Van the Man from his days with Them, through his best-known tunes ("Brown-Eyed Girl," "Moondance," "Blue Money," "Wild Night"), to highlights from the '70s and '80s cult efforts, topped off by "Wonderful Remark," a song first heard on the King of Comedy soundtrack. This collection makes Morrison's work seem a little more immediate and accessible than it usually is, but that's a blessing, since it provides a great summary of his hits and a nice introduction for the curious. Yes, it could have dug deeper into the catalog, but as a sampler, it can't be faulted. Newly remastered sound and expanded packaging including lyrics of the Two CD set reissue of the 1994 album, recorded live A Night in San Francisco by Van Morrison. In contrast to these commercially-successful but not always critically acclaimed albums, the 1994 live double album, A Night in San Francisco was a "tour-de-force", clearly demonstrating Morrison's talents and his influences in equal measure and reached #8 on the UK charts. The Rolling Stone magazine review states the album stands as: "the culmination of a career's worth of soul-searching that finds Morrison's eyes turned toward heaven and his feet planted firmly on the ground."
